"Solo algunos espectáculos llegan a ser un verdadero disfrute para los sentidos y la mente; así me ocurrió al asistir a la recreación de La Fastiginia en el Palacio Real de Valladolid. Y al igual que el viajero portugués Tomé Pinheiro quedó impactado en 1605 por el esplendor de La Corte Española, establecida por entonces en la ciudad, hoy somos afortunados al evocar aquel ambiente cultural tan refinado gracias a una perfecta simbiosis de arte, literatura, música y danza. "
Synopsis: Tomé Pinheiro has returned to Valladolid. Required as master of ceremonies for a 'peculiar' banquet, extols, not without irony, the pomp of the forgotten courtier Valladolid. He is accompanied in the entertainment by Filippo Picinini, chamber musician of King Felipe III. In each act or 'service' facts and characters are illustrated that can help understand the wealth of that flourishing age: thus the first stops in the cultural melting pot of the Spain of his time, with special attention to the Renaissance influence on poets such as Garcilaso or Gutierre de Cetina. The second describes the arrival of the great names of golden literature in Valladolid, seeking the favor of the king's favorite: it is the time of Góngora and Quevedo, the Count of Salinas, Juan de Tassis.... In the third, with the background of the arrival to the city of the delegation of the English 'heretics', Pinheiro fable about the supposed meeting between Cervantes and Shakespeare. Already in the epilogue, he proposes a series of 'instructive' reflections before the last toast and resuming his unfinished journey...
"Melopea" bien podría entenderse como una sutil forma de alquimia, pues nace de la integración de diversos elementos que se funden en el crisol de un momento fugaz y sublime. Por un lado, el vino en su más refinada manifestación, excelsa dualidad que alimenta al cuerpo y al espíritu. A ello se añade la palabra nacida en aquella mítica edad dorada, cuando autores como Góngora, Lope de Vega, Quevedo, San Juan de la Cruz, Cervantes y muchos otros alcanzaron con su verbo la inmortalidad. Y finalmente, a modo de ingrediente amalgamador, lienzo invisible sobre el que se 'dibujan' los textos, una serie de ambientes sonoros seleccionados para la ocasión. La rapsodia incorpora así un elemento contemporáneo con el que se pretende subrayar, no adornar, el significado profundo de un poema o un pasaje teatral. Esta revisitación de los 'clásicos' en el marco de lenguajes contemporáneos, nos reafirma en su atemporalidad, aunque a alguno pueda sorprender escuchar las “Soledades” de Lope Vega a ritmo de Rap, o la “Noche Oscura…” de S. Juan sobre un tapiz de Ambient electrónico...
