Synopsis: Tomé Pinheiro has returned to Valladolid. Required as master of ceremonies for a 'peculiar' banquet,  extols, not without irony, the pomp of the forgotten courtier Valladolid. He is accompanied in the entertainment by Filippo Picinini, chamber musician of King Felipe III. In each act or 'service' facts and characters are illustrated that can help understand the wealth  of that flourishing age: thus the first stops  in the cultural melting pot of the Spain of his time, with special attention to the Renaissance influence on poets such as Garcilaso or Gutierre de Cetina.  The second describes the arrival of the great names of golden literature in Valladolid, seeking the favor of the king's favorite: it is the time of Góngora and Quevedo, the Count of Salinas, Juan de Tassis.... In the third, with the background of the arrival  to the city of the delegation of the English 'heretics', Pinheiro fable about the supposed meeting between Cervantes and Shakespeare. Already in the epilogue, he proposes a series of 'instructive' reflections before the last toast and resuming  his unfinished journey...
